Kitec/IPEX Piping? The Problems & Courses of Action
If you had radiant heat installed between 1995-2007, you should check your pipes. There is currently a class action lawsuit against the Kitec System, and you may be able to file a claim. If your pipes have any of the following labels, you should be aware that the fittings contain high levels of zinc and could corrode and fail over time.
- Kitec, Plumbetter, IPEX AQUA, WarmRite, Kitec XPA, AmbioComfort, XPA, KERR Controls or Plomberie Améliorée, or KT
The Kitec System Settlement website (http://www.kitecsettlement.com/) explains who can and should file a claim, EVEN IF YOUR SYSTEM HAS NOT FAILED.
We are seeing many of these systems flagged during home inspections for real estate sales, and buyers are requesting the sellers replace these systems. Most people ask: Can’t you just replace the fittings? Currently, there is no product that is warrantied for replacement fittings on these systems. Renew Heating & Homes has a unique solution for homeowners in this predicament. Give us a call so we can walk you through the process!
